The Guests Relished the Experience of Cooking Demonstration and Enjoyed a Hearty Meal in a Homely Ambience

A Truly Immersive Rajasthani Culinary Experience for Our Foreign Guests

There’s something truly magical about stepping into a traditional Indian home, rolling up your sleeves, and learning to cook a meal the way it’s been done for generations. That’s exactly what our recent guests from across the globe experienced at Gupshup@Gharaunda, nestled in the heart of Udaipur, Rajasthan.

These enthusiastic travelers, hailing from countries like France, Australia, and Canada, weren’t just observers—they were active participants in a cultural cooking demonstration unlike any other. Guided by our host, Ms. Sudha Singh, a passionate ambassador of Rajasthani tradition and culinary heritage, they discovered the beauty of preparing food using terracotta utensils and cooking over a traditional Rajasthani chulah (clay stove).

A Cultural Exchange Over Spices and Stories

As the spices sizzled and the aromas filled the open-air kitchen, conversations flowed. Guests learned not only how to cook signature Rajasthani dishes like Baati-Churma, Ker Sangri, and Gatte ki Sabzi, but also heard the fascinating stories behind each spice and method.

They ground spices by hand, stirred lentils with wooden ladles, and even tried their hand at rolling dough using age-old techniques passed down from generations. The entire session was a beautiful exchange of culture through cuisine.

A Homely Feast Shared with Laughter

After the demonstration, guests were welcomed into the heart of our home to enjoy the very dishes they helped prepare. Served on traditional brass thalis, the meal was not just about food—it was about community, connection, and care.

Amid Rajasthani decor and warm hospitality, they dined with our extended family members, sharing stories, laughter, and heartfelt moments. For many, this was a rare and authentic experience, far removed from hotel buffets or commercial cooking classes.

Why Travelers Love This Experience

  • Authenticity – Real Indian cooking with real locals.
  • Hands-On Learning – Not a show, but a skill-sharing experience.
  • Intimate Environment – Small groups in a family setting.
  • Cultural Immersion – More than food, it’s a lifestyle experience.

A Parting Gift from Gupshup@Gharaunda

Before leaving, each guest received a handcrafted memento and a printed recipe booklet, so they could recreate the flavors of Rajasthan in their own kitchens back home.

We at Gupshup@Gharaunda are honored to be a small but meaningful part of their India journey, offering something truly local, deeply personal, and entirely unforgettable.
